About The Creation of Adam

Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam is a scene from the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Adam reclines at the left as God reaches toward him from a sweeping group of figures at the right. The small interval between their fingertips becomes the focus of a monumental composition. This image shows the individual ceiling scene rather than the whole chapel ceiling.

Look closely

Look at the nearly touching hands, then compare the relaxed weight of Adam's body with the forward movement of the group carrying God.
